About M Fiduciary Services

M Fiduciary Services provides full service professional fiduciary services including trust administration, conservatorship and probate estate administration, agent under Durable Power of Attorney, as well as extraordinary services in real estate management and sales.

Melissa Chung is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary (CLPF #1418) and a National Certified Guardian by the National Guardian Association. She received her B.A. at University of California, Berkeley, has a business background with experience in Investor Relations for publicly traded companies and began her journey administrating estates in 2021. With her experience in probate administration, Power of Attorney, and estate management, she has built a network based on trust and integrity.

She is an active member of Professional Fiduciaries Association of California, and practices with the highest of standard of conduct in meeting clients’ needs and constantly strives to be mindful of her clients’ best interests and treats them with dignity and respect.

Services offered

Trust Administration

Appointment as trustee and managing the affairs and complex assets of the Trustor’s life. Encompasses services such as bill pay, sale of real property, coordination of assisted living, management of accounts, and distribution of assets according to the Trustor’s wishes.


Probate Administration

Appointment as personal representative or executor of a decedent’s estate through court appointment or naming to inventory, secure, marshal, and protect assets upon death while settling creditors, paying bills, managing and liquidating assets as needed to preserve and protect the estate until full distribution to beneficiaries and discharge from court.


Conservatorship of Estate

Appointment as Conservator of the Estate to manage the conservatee’s financial matters. Services include, but are not limited to managing the conservatee's finances, protecting income and property, bill pay, making investments, preparing and filing taxes on behalf of the conservatee.

Durable
Power of Attorney

Agent under Power of Attorney to manage assets or income not in a trust. Often served in combination with trustee appointment for same individual(s). Services including acting as agent for financial and legal matters pertaining to the estate and can coordinate services such as bill pay and coordination of assistance for daily living.

Fee Schedule

  • For non-trust / non-probate services, a standard hourly fee of $175 is applied.
    Services offered and provided include, but are not limited to :
    Standard administrative
    Case Management
    Bill Pay
    Basic Financial Management

    For more complex cases, rates may be raised up to $230 per hour.
    Services offered and provided include, but are not limited to :
    Estate Investigation and marshalling of assets
    Real estate management, title transactions,  
    Tax matters
    Mediation
    Sale of assets under management
    Court appearances

    Real Property Sales : 1% of Sales Price, which includes all activities, meetings, time, and coordination associated with sale

    Travel fees may be billed if traveling outside of San Francisco, Sonoma, Marin, Contra Costa, Alameda, and San Mateo Counties.

    Initial one-time set up fee : $850

  • For standard and ordinary trusts, fees are calculated based on percentage of asset value :

    Estates up to $10,000,000 :  1% of Estate size (Fair market value of Assets under management) per annum
    (Rates may be Hourly subject to complexity of services provided)
    Estates above $10,000,000 : Rates are negotiable

    Real Property Sales : 1% of Sales Price, which includes all activities, meetings, time, and coordination associated with sale

    Minimum Annual Fee : $5,000

    Initial one-time set up fee : $850

  • Fees payable to the Professional Fiduciary as the Personal Representative for customary services are authorized under Probate Code §10800 and, pursuant to Probate Code §10800 are computed on a fee base comprised of gross assets, plus receipts and gains, less losses, as follows:

    4% of the first $100,000
    3% of the next $100,000
    2% of the next $800,000
    1% of the next $9,000,000
    0.5% of the next $15,000,000
    Court discretion after $25,000,000

    In addition to statutory fees, pursuant to Probate Code §10801, extraordinary fees can be requested for services such as, but not limited to, tax issues, real property sales and litigation. Though fees for extraordinary services are subject to court approval, extraordinary services are charged at the following hourly rates:

    - Hourly base rate of $175
    - Complex/Extraordinary services : Up to $230
